Shyft Dev Deep Dive Monthly - May 2023

After making a series of significant releases earlier this year, May has been a relatively quiet yet equally important month for us. Our Product & Engineering team has been intently focused on two major initiatives:

• Veriscope Status Checks (aka "Smoke Screen")

• User Signing for private, unhosted wallets

Veriscope Status Checks

The launch of Veriscope Status Checks, also known as "Smoke Screen," is a significant step in our progress. This feature offers a detailed insight into the status of a Veriscope Server, making installation and troubleshooting considerably more manageable.

We have included 24 checks in the initial release with plans to add more in the near future.

Veriscope Status Checks was introduced in v4.2.0 on 5th June.

User Signing for Private, Unhosted Wallets

As the name suggests, User Signing for private, unhosted wallets is a straightforward yet crucial development. We aim to cover all Bitcoin and Ethereum chains upon initial release, with wallet interfaces such as MetaMask, WalletConnect, Ledger, and Trezor.

The anticipated timeline for this release is the end of June.

What's Next?

Looking to the future, our Product & Engineering team is working on several crucial projects:

• Smart Contract Fee Upgrade to enable VASPs and Service Providers to set the price of on-chain transactions and profit from the difference from the gas fees

• Veriscope SaaS solution for testnet.
